World Bank Group: Evaluation Officer, Washington DC

JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) is the organizational unit in the World Bank Group (WBG) providing evaluation and feedback on the development effectiveness of Bank Group activities in client countries.
They are currently recruiting 3 Evaluation Officers (GF) VIEW HERE under two streams i.e.:

  • Human Development: social protection, health and nutrition, and/or education. (1 position) 
  • Sustainable Development: sustainable development, including Infrastructure (water, transport), environment, agriculture. (2 positions) Under the direction of the Unit Manager, the Evaluation Officer will contribute directly to IEG evaluations. This work will include conducting project-level validations and evaluations (at least 50% of the annual work program will be dedicated to this), contributing to larger thematic, sectoral and corporate evaluations, overseeing contributions from consultants, contributing to budget and team oversight, and commenting on the work of others. 
The Evaluation Officer will also contribute to IEG at the corporate level, suggesting strategic directions and evaluation topics. The roles will be based in Washington DC, and full details can be found HERE.

Applications close on Nov 23, 2015. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Advanced graduate degree in core technical disciplines relevant to the thematic area 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in development evaluation, human development, sustainable development, development economics, public policy, or related field across regions and/or sectors. 
  • Prior work experience in evaluation in Multilateral Development Banks. Relevant sector expertise from a development context is essential. 
  • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods, with demonstrated experience in the application of these methods.
