After

good memories of the country and its people. He congratulated the
Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, especially in the
operationalization of a Government of National Unity. He also conveyed
his sincere appreciation for the trust, support and cooperation provided
to the United Nations system, and assured the government of the
continuing assistance from the United Nations in addressing Zanzibar’s
development challenges.
H.E.
First Vice President congratulated Mr. Kacou for “his successful
leadership in making the UN system grow stronger.” Similarly, H.E Second
Vice President thanked Mr. Kacou for “leading the various UN agencies
towards more coherent and effective assistance to Zanzibar.”
Tanzania
is one of seven pilot countries implementing the Delivering As One
approach aimed at achieving greater impact on development challenges,
through a more coordinated, coherent, and efficient manner. The UN
sub-office in Zanzibar, inaugurated in 2009 by the UN Secretary General,
was established in order to make sure that UN agencies provide the most
effective assistance to Zanzibar, in line with the principles of the
Delivering As One initiative. It is one of a few joint offices in the
world where UN agencies are under one roof and share in the management
of the office.
